Avengers Academy Review

So for any of you who don’t know what Avengers Academy is, it’s an app where you create your own academy for teenage versions of your favorite superheroes such as Iron Man & Captain America as well as a couple of villains which includes Loki, The Enchantress and Taskmaster. The app is available on Google Play for those of you on Android devices. It is also available in the App Store for those of you on Mac devices.

Okay! So to move on to the actual review of the app, I will be reviewing the app using my own opinions on the gameplay, graphics and other aspects of the game.

Gameplay – Avengers Academy is basically a time management tycoon game, you have a list of actions that you can make your heroes (and villains) do to complete missions, missions which give you rewards that you can use towards unlocking a new hero or villain. Some of the actions however take way too long to complete in my opinion, some taking as long as 8 hours. While for many this style of gameplay in an app would get boring, I personally find it addictive so I’ll give the gameplay a 4 out of 5.

Graphics/Art – The graphics in Avengers Academy reminds me of a cartoony video game or even a comic book that was targeted towards children. I personally don’t love this kind of art but I also don’t hate it, I’ll give the graphics a 3 out of 5.

Story – The app has around three different storylines that all occur around the same time. You have a story that involves Hydra, you have a story that involves A.I.M and then you have a story around something called the Timefog. Overall I’m not that interested in the stories and it seems like the stories are just there to be there so I’ll give the stories a 2 out of 5.

Overall, I enjoy playing this game and while it may have a few bugs it seems like the developers of the game (TinyCo) are looking to improve it and make it more enjoyable so I’ll give the app a 7.5/10.

UPDATE: TinyCo has released multiple events since I have posted this review which have not accompanied updates to the main story, but they do completely take over the app while they’re around because of how difficult they are unless you spend all of your time playing it. It has become more of a job to play the game but I will keep playing because of my Marvel Addiction.

WWE ’12

This game lets you become your favorite WWE wrestler such as John Cena, The Big Show, Rey Mysterio and many more. Create your own Road to Wrestlemania with three stories, Villain, Outsider and Hero. In the Villain story you play as Sheamus to earn all of the WWE championships, in the Outsider story you play as Triple H returning from almost a year off due to injury and in the Hero story you create your own wrestler named Jacob Cass and you save the WWE from Kevin Nash and the WCW legends. There are also four different difficulty levels for the Road to Wrestlemania. Easy, normal, hard and legend. The movies after you finish your objective were, personally made with amazing detail. You can create your own finishing move for your created superstar as a grappling move, a top rope move and a corner move. Do you want to earn WWE titles or make your own tag team? Go into WWE Universe and fight wrestlers, earning a chance at a certain title, just be careful if you win your first match. There is also new animations in the WWE Universe, such as getting injured after a defeat, being congratulated by your friends and many more that I haven’t found yet. Create your own entrance using different animations, lighting colors, pyrotechnics and screen effects. Fight as some of the great legends such as, The Rock, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Edge and Road Warrior Hawk and Animal. There are many arenas like the Tribute To The Troops arena, attires like the purple John Cena outfit, entrance music such as the Jacob Cass music, entrance screens such as the King Of Kings screen and wrestlers to unlock like Brock Lesnar. This game is different from the older ones, this game has clearer viewing of the fighting. There is also new actions in the backstage brawl match. This game is available on the XBOX 360, PS3 and the Wii. This game is rated T for Teen. Good luck!
